It is that time of year again, the festive season is well and truly here. We are now closed for our annual vacation and look forward to opening again in mid February. It has been yet again another fantastic year and we could not have done it without you so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are all looking forward to spending some well earned time off after busy year (and especially a crazy summer period) and spending quality time with our families and friends as we do not get a chance to spend a lot of time with them throughout the year.
We will be back soon, refreshed and rested looking forward to another crazy year! We hope to see you then
Wishing you and your loved ones a very merry christmas, prosperous 2015 and lots happy times over the festive season

Happy halloween folks. Personally, this is my favourite holiday of the year (excluding xmas of course!!!). I just love all the spookiness, the costumes and of course the jack-o-lanterns! Every year at Ca Pepe we order a load of pumpkins and everyone in the kitchen has a go at carving them. They are usually very good – there is the odd disaster of course – but the pumpkin carving king has to be Alan’s dad Peter who every year carves the most imaginative and spooky pumpkins! He puts all of ours to shame to be honest and they take pride of place on display throughout the restaurant so keep an eye out for them.
Why not have a go at carving yourself – you will need a sharp knife so be careful. You can nowadays get proper pumpkin carving sets too which make life much easier. You can also download stencils online for the faces if you are not as confident doing freehand! So go on…..get stuck in
Here are a few fun halloween facts for you all…..
- Because the movie Halloween (1978) was on such a tight budget, they had to use the cheapest mask they could find for the character Michael Meyers, which turned out to be a William Shatner Star Trek mask. Shatner initially didn’t know the mask was in his likeness, but when he found out years later, he said he was honored.
- The first Jack O’Lanterns were actually made from turnips.
- Halloween is the second highest grossing commercial holiday after Christmas.
- The word “witch” comes from the Old English wicce, meaning “wise woman.” In fact, wiccan were highly respected people at one time. According to popular belief, witches held one of their two main meetings, or sabbats, on Halloween night.
- According to Irish legend, Jack O’Lanterns are named after a stingy man named Jack who, because he tricked the devil several times, was forbidden entrance into both heaven and hell. He was condemned to wander the Earth, waving his lantern to lead people away from their paths
- The largest pumpkin ever measured was grown by Norm Craven, who broke the world record in 1993 with a 836 lb. pumpkin.
Happy halloween from all of us
Are you kidding me?! Thats what I said to my social marketing guru John this morning when he mentioned this to me. Off I went, straight into the kitchen to plan our new autumn menu with Alan. It feels weird actually as it still so warm and summer feels like it is still here, but I am not going to argue with mother nature. Autumn brings change, colour and the impending arrival of Christmas!! We start to see root veggies, venison, and warming comfort foods popping up on our menu’s. Here in Spain the sunshine might delay the autumn feeling a little while longer but once we hit October we will be in the full leafy swing of the new season.
The new menu will be coming soon………Keep an eye out on the menu section of the website…..
OK, so we are looking for a little bit of help here. We make our own ice creams and even though we have a load of fun coming up with new flavours we are always looking for new ones! We use tons of the stuff in the hot summer and it sells out faster than we can churn it!
Here are some of our most popular ones:
- PBJ – Peanut butter and jelly
- Chocolate brownie
- Strawberry cheesecake
- Date sponge
- Lemon cheesecake
- Salted caramel
- Raspberry and white chocolate
Good ideas on a postcard please (ok well a message on facebook or email via the website will do!) and if we use your flavour we will let you know and you can pop down for a portion on us!
Big Love x
Today is the first day of summer. It does not seem like two minutes ago since we were putting up the christmas tree, but the time for mojitos and balmy summer evenings on our terrace are here again. Its our favourite time of year, dont get me wrong, we love all the other season’s too as moraira is beautiful throughout the year but summer brings fun, families making memories together and of course lots of wall to wall sunshine!
We have something for everyone – cocktails, homemade chicken goujons and spag bol for the kids (none of that processed junk!), our famous ever changing homemade ice cream flavours (PBJ – peanut butter and jelly always sell’s out faster than we can churn it!) and of course of summer menu filled with seasonal goodies.
We hope to see you soon, big love!
